Negombo with its Virgin Beaches

Negombo is a coastal town located about 35 kilometers north of Colombo.. Even though the road is 35 kilometers, it takes about 1 hour by bus.. The distance to the airport is only 15 kilometers.. Therefore, it is one of the most preferred regions.. In fact, another reason why it is so preferred is that it is Sri Lanka’s first holiday destination.

Cafes and bars are increasing in the region where hotels are concentrated.. We stayed in an apartment hotel here.. We paid around 40 Euros for 4 people.. Hotel was very clean. His restaurant was also close to European standards. Its location was very central.

Negombo was a venue for the Portuguese, Dutch and British during the colonial period.. At that time, Negombo was used as the main port for the export of cinnamon.. For this reason, there are many buildings from this period in the city.

But this temple of Negombo, this structure is not very impressive.. But the yellow beaches along the Indian Ocean and the palm trees lined up along this beach are quite beautiful.

There are no beach clubs lined up along the coast when it comes to the touristic area, here it is a very untouched area where there are no sun loungers. .

Especially if you go for a walk on the Negombo beach early in the morning, you may encounter fishermen going fishing with their small boats.. More precisely, we can say that these boats are not a boat, but a slightly more advanced canoe.. While walking on the beach, many sailboats pass in front of us, on the one hand, fishermen are preparing to go hunting.. The fishermen’s favorite is the crabs that live in the coral close to the shore.

It’s a really beautiful beach, but we couldn’t swim because the sea was too choppy.. The sea is generally wavy since it opens to the ocean anyway.. In the afternoon, the number of peddlers on the beach increases.. There are those who sell fruit, and there are those who sell wooden trinkets.

To get back to the airport from Negombo, you can hire a tuk tuk to travel for 7-8 dollars.. Since we were 4 people, we made our choice for the car.
